About the role

Aletek is a well-established partner to tier-one mining and natural resource companies around the globe. We deliver exhaust and thermal protection solutions to our clients throughout six countries (and growing). As an Aletek Field Services Technician, you can travel to customer locations across the USA to perform in-field thermal blanket installations, exhaust parts replacements, visual audits, 3D Scanning, installation training and customer support duties. These services require some mechanical know-how, communication and training skills. You must be able to perform quality work as efficiently and profitably as possible and work overtime and weekends on occasion. You will also collaborate with Aletek clients to assist them with fire mitigation practices, product care, and product selection, and look for opportunities to upsell Aletek products and services.

What you will do in the role

  • Perform in-field installations and customer training as required.
  • Assist and Train client staff in the maintenance and installation of Aletek products.
  • Operate a 3D Laser scanner and measure exhaust systems for the purpose of designing new products.
  • Perform visual inspections, take notes and photos to report back to client for maintenance recommendations.
  • Serve as an in-field representative for Aletek to provide service solutions and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Inspect, assemble, and replace exhaust pipes and blankets as required.
  • Document machine information and repairs completed on work order, including time and materials used.
  • Maintain a clean work area, as well as care for all tools, and customer equipment.
  • Identify and communicate solutions for the customer’s benefit in the Aletek’s area of responsibility
  • Maintain technical and product knowledge on all products and equipment.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
  • Conduct self in the presence of customers and community so as to present a professional image of Aletek.
  • Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, in an effort to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set.
  • Participate in all company/location driven communication efforts, including open book meetings, huddles, department meetings and other related efforts.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.

Desired qualifications and experience

  • Excellent mechanical skills
  • Travel with hand tools to remote locations via air flights etc.
  • Current and valid driver’s license as outlined in company policy manual
  • Ability to assemble and perform tasks on large mining equipment
  • Good computer skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong teaching skills
  • Strong organizational skills and eye for detail.
  • Graduation from related diesel technology program (preferred)
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Candidates must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
